About the Fair Fan Blog

  • This blog is for all my fellow Missourians who've dreamed of living on nothing but funnel cakes and lemonade. And it's also for those who just want a taste of the Missouri State Fair.

I'll show you what people are doing to get ready for the fair, and I'll have wall-to-wall coverage of everything on the Fairgrounds from August 9-19.

Missouri State Faircast: Champion Youth

Youthsheep_2What's in it for the kids? Well, aside from spinning rides, funnel cakes and concerts, the 2007 Missouri State Fair offers kids the chance to show-off their more grown-up sides.  In this week's podcast, I spoke with the Chairman of the Youth in Agriculture Committee about The Sale of Champions.  Wayne Yokley says the Sale gives youth the opportunity to become more acquainted with the business of agriculture. He adds that a large portion of the revenue raised during the Sale, funds scholarships for continuing education in agriculture. Learn more about why this is one of the largest events that takes place at the Missouri State Fair.
